Week 2

Marshall- Virginia Tech

Tom- The Herd struggled against a team from the Little Feller division last week.  That doesn’t bode well for a trip to Blacksburg.  Look forward to seeing the group with the RV that was a converted school bus and had a TV antenna attached to the roof.  Hope they have an analog to digital converter.  Tech

Kevin- So who gets the redshirt yanked off this week in order to salvage the season?  Does a white-out mean we surrender?  Hokies win

Jay- Marshall is not as big or as fast as Bama. Hokies cruise.

Vip- I was hoping this would be a letdown game after a glorious Tech win over Alabama in week one.  Barring that, it's a dangerous comeback game against a traditionally-pesky opponent.  Here's hoping we get more than a slew of three-and-outs from our offense.  VT wins 31-14.

Ivan- since 1776, the cows have played tech twice, turning "medium rare" both times by 26 points. you'd think the bovines will get a clue.  tech

Paul- The Hokies rebound from a hard fought loss and take out the Blundering Turd. Questions on offense will remain after the game and will likely remain throughout the year....again.

Curmudgeon- If the good guys struggle in this one, it's going to be a long season.  VT

John- Hokies bask under adoring fans, find some offense to wash away bad memories (yet again) from 'lanta - VT makes a statement on the home field 44-0.

Jim- Can Tech take a mulligan and start the season over? Hokies win.

Clemson- Georgia Tech

Tom- The service academy style offense may work for service academies but not in the Real World.  It’s also week two and few people know how teams are going to play against real opponents and besides, my standing isn’t looking so good.  Jackets

Kevin- Cheering interests say Tigers, contest interests say Jackets.  Hope I'm wrong, Jackets.

Jay-  GT, prolly the best team in the ACC, to win.

Vip- How long before Paul Johnson's gimmick offense is snuffed.  Given Clemson's recent defensive history. let's put it off another week.  GT wins 28-20.

Ivan- two nailbite acc games in less than a week?  nah... coastal exposes atlantic as a "lil'e" wannabe. gits.

Paul- Clemson figures out a way to take the sting out of the Jackets.WRONG!

Curmudgeon- The other Tech will win this one.   Ga Tech

John- GT should eke out a win in a close contest - Wasps by a TD.

Jim- Those GT fans sure looked out of place at the hotel last Saturday. Jackets win.

TCU- Virginia

Tom- The Horney Toads should prove a bit tougher than the Tribe.  Chuckle.  Horney Toads

Kevin- Who knew the 3-game Rivalry Package would be a ticket to view an "0-fer" for the home team? Horned Frogs over French Frogs.

Jay- TCU, of course!

Vip- This will either be a great bounce-back for the battered Hoos, or the latest in their inexorable downhill slide.  Al, we hardly knew ye.  TCU wins 20-10.

Ivan- al's key to this game is a new trick play, the "hopeless hoo" formation. it should work a bit better than "e2e4" last week.  lol!  hoo am i
kidding?! bufonidas.

Paul-  The Hot Seat gets hotter. With a loss here, the 'hoos are well on their way to an 0-12 season. Great Horny Toads!!

Curmudgeon- I'm tempted to pull the trigger on the Hooskies, but will not.  TCU

John- The frogs spear the French - no mercy for the soon-to-be departed algroh.

Jim- Get them while they're hot! Frogs win.

North Carolina- Connecticut

Tom- With all the hype surrounding the heeliban, everyone seems to forget that UConn is a lousy team.  Tarheels

Kevin-Call it a hunch, wishful thinking, or recent memories of UNC at Rutgers in 2008.  Heels

Jay- I’ll take the Heels

Vip- Let's see how Butch's charges do against a 1-A opponent this week.  What the hell.  The 'Heels win 34-20.

Ivan- acc may lose to caa but not lil'e. peoples republic of chap-n-hill.

Paul- UNC has generally struggled on the road in recent years. This trend continues, but the Heels should have enough to take out the Huskies. Heels.

Curmudgeon- Is it basketball season yet?  UNC aka Baby Blue U

John- With 16 starters returning, Butch should be a happy camper this season.  Baby blues in a close road win.

Jim- Going into Week 2, the Heels are one of the few ACC teams that haven't lost yet. That should garner Butch some CotY votes. Carolina wins.

Stanford- Wake Forest

Tom- If Wake hadn’t lost to Baylor; if John Elway still played at Stanford, yada-yada-yada.  Given who their coach is and since it’s early in the season and if I’m going to really screw up badly I might as well do it now, I’ll take the Trees.  TreesWRONG!

Kevin- Some media outlet needs to do an article on how bad the ACC started the season, don't you think?  Wake

Jay- Wake makes it close but loses.WRONG!

Vip- After getting drubbed by one group of eggheads last week, Wake will try to avoid back-to-back losses from teams in the NCAA's Mensa Division.  Wake wins 27-24.

Ivan-  can't see the forest for the trees. stain-fjord.WRONG!

Paul- Does the West Coast Team traveling east axiom apply to college football? Probably not as much. Wake improves and cuts down the Trees.

Curmudgeon- WF could handle the other Baptists & they can't handle the trees.  StanfordWRONG!

John- Toss up, but I'm gonna pick the weak florists to find a way at home.

Jim- Keep digging, Wake and maybe you can find a BCS private you can beat. Deacs win.

Duke- Army

Tom- 70 years ago this would have been a hell of a game.  These guys play like the same guys as then only 70 years older.  Black KnightsWRONG!

Kevin- Perhaps "bowling alley" was the term intended in 2009?  ArmyWRONG!

Jay- Good grief! A clash of irrelevants. I’ll take the home irrelevant.WRONG!

Vip- Bowl Fever turned out to be a 24-hour virus in Durham.  Army wins 24-21.WRONG!

Ivan-  fubar game of the weak. knigets.WRONG!

Paul- NOBODY RUNS ON RICHMOND!!!! Army runs on EVERYBODY!!.The "Bowl Game or Bust" season digs a deeper hole in game 2. Black Knights of the Columbus.WRONG!

Curmudgeon- Hopefully, one embarrassment is enough.  Duke

John- Duke pulls one out.  Exactly 11 Duke fans will witness the proceedings.

Jim- If the Devils lose this one I'm bringing back the 'How Bad Is Duke?' feature. Duke wins.

USC- Ohio State

Tom- Everything says that the Rubbers are the same juggernaut they’ve always been, while kind of overlooking that whole freshmen QB thing.  The Nuts struggled against Bad Little Feller U but they won and have veterans at most skill positions.  I guess I’d still have to go with Southern Cal since they will at least have speed working for them; something Mr. Sweater Vest won’t.  Men of Latex

Kevin- Ohio State and Oklahoma out of the BCS race in week 2?  Pop the bubbly, the TV execs indeed will.  SoCal

Jay-USC by 3.

Vip- Freshman QB or no, I'm going with USC until someone from the Big10-ish Conference proves its a bad idea.  USC-W wins 41-30.

Ivan-  as if. malibu housewives go on a chopping spree in columbus. pyotr carroll.

Paul- Sorry Nuts...the Trojans have too much speed and talent for you to keep up. More Trojans put up numbers to improve their Pro Bowl resume.

Curmudgeon- OSU had trouble with Navy.  As long as the rookie QB holds up I will go with.   USC

John- USC has too much offensive firepower for the Buckeyes - winning in a close one.

Jim- The Bucks better hope their heroes were looking ahead. USC wins.

Notre Dame- Michigan

Tom- Both of these teams rival the Canes in proclaiming their ‘backness’ with both coaches doing the majority of the proclaiming.  Understandable for both as Fat Charlie is inept, fat and stupid while ‘Weepy’ Rich Rod cheats, doesn’t pay his bills and has cops showing up at his office.  That love for the limelight is going to bite you Weepy.  Still, have to go with the home team.  Blue

Kevin- Yes, time spent delivering checks to the West Virginia government counts against those 20 hours.  Michigan wins.

Jay- Doesn’t ND always beat Big Blue? Lamers to win.WRONG!

Vip- Fat Chalie might have a halfway-decent teams on his hands.  RichRod, on the other hand...  NbcD wins 21-10.WRONG!

Ivan-  "no clue" will be a new sign to run through after richbroad and his michicken drop this one. touchdown jesus.WRONG!

Paul-Which team is closer to being "back". Don't really care, but I'll take Michicken over the domers in a close one.

Curmudgeon- The Lamers will win, but I just can't pick them.    Michigan

John- Wolvies can't follow multiple lead dogs on offense - flail around and hand one to the Lame.WRONG!

Jim- RichRod, I would hold off on investing in Ann Arbor real estate. Irish win. WRONG!

South Carolina- Georgia

Tom- Visor Cock should know, this is not a good time for a trip to Athens.  Dawgs

Kevin- A collective welcome back to the conference, boys. Dawgs

Jay- Dawgs

Vip- UGa's suspect road pedigree took a well-deserved hit last week.  With this game being between the hedges, UGa wins 27-20.

Ivan-  maybe this time... tbilisi.

Paul- Georgia ain't NCState and USC isn't OSU. Dawegs

Curmudgeon- Georgia isn't as good as some people think.  USCe was pathetic the other night.  Georgia

John- 'Dogs return to familiar territory to redeem themselves, cocks are de-Spurred.

Jim- Why do Dawgs lick their...., well, you know. Georgia wins.

East Carolina- West Virginia

Tom- Neither team looked particularly good in their season opener but Stewart has the most to lose.  He won’t be much of a factor in winning the game though.   Neers

Kevin- I'm just not feeling it on the road given last year's pleasant surprise, Pirates.  Cousins burn the town.

Jay- Neers

Vip- After struggling a bit last week with the Christians from Lynchburg, the 'Neers should be ready for the Heathens from Greenville.  WVU wins 38-27.

Ivan-  directional championship goes to past virginia.

Paul- The Cousins get back at the Strawgraspers for last year.

Curmudgeon- Not that I care a whole lot about this game.  West Virginia

John- Lou'shzh boy hopes for a miracle repeat; it's not to be, though, as Pirates sink to a broadside battery, or two.

Jim- I do so love the Strawgrasper message board when they lose. Cousins win.

Name That RUTS

Syracuse- Penn State

Tom- JoePa heads into RUTS mode.  Paulus fumbles 4 times trying to dribble the football.  “Sorry coach, I forgot!”  Lions by 38

Kevin- Teabag won't have to make a game winning INT this week for the opponent as the RUTS will be on to the tune of 29.

Jay- Lions roar past the Orange by 33

Vip- Paulus' three-pointers and suspect defense add up to a 45-14 PSU win.

Ivan- state pen unloads the whole nine yards and 49 pts.

Paul- Nits by 24 WIN!

Curmudgeon- Syracuse is not Duke basketball.  PSU rolls.   46-10

John- Lemme think, how 'bout 62-0?  That has a nice "orange" flavor to it. :)

Jim- Things get a little trickier this week, Greg. JoePa by 31.
