Week 4

Miami- Virginia Tech

Tom- Last Saturday, Tech’s vaulted offense faced the adversity of having to play an actual defense again, with pretty much the same results as the first time.  There was an exception in that we won the game on a Hail Mary that shouldn’t have happened but we all knew could.  Against the Canes, we need similar plays but more of them.  My guess is Tyrod gained a wealth of confidence learning that he could actually win a game with his arm but it shouldn’t have come to that.  Much has been made of the Tech running game, it needs to shine against Miami and I believe it will. – Tech

Kevin- Getting to 16 won't be enough this week for a W.  VT will as always need Bud's boys to play the game of their lives as defense and special teams are going to need to score to have a shot at winning.  Miami is still young and on the road.  ECU may get into the ACC.  Yep, we're all just grasping at straws.   I've got a bad feeling about this, but I'll say Hokies.

Jay- What I learned last week: 1) Despite experience at all positions for the 1st time in 3 years, Tech’s offense is bad for the 3rd time in 3 seasons. I wonder who our offensive coordinator will be next year? Miami. WRONG!

Vip- After manhandling Nebraska last week, the Hokies welcome former whipping boys UofM to Blacksburg Saturday.  Didja hear that Miami's "back?"  I think I've seen one or two things about it on ESPN.  Getting pressure on Jacory Harris is job one Saturday.  VT does it, 17-14.

Ivan- well, i don't pick against tech. defend das mutterland!

Paul- This game makes me very nervous. Based on what we've shown (and haven't shown) and how Miami has looked, it could be an easy pick to take Miami...but I just can't bring myself to do it...I may be wrong, but something tells me the Hokies win.

Curmudgeon- As tough as this is to do, & I hope I'm miss this one, but the VT offense says take   MiamiWRONG!

John- Back-to-BACK chewed nails prevail.  Hokies by 3.

Jim- Are the Canes really Backer than Back? Tech wins.

North Carolina- Georgia Tech

Tom- I don't think Carolina is all that 'for real' but after watching GT self destruct against Miami and barely beat Clemson, they seem the wiser pick.  HeelsWRONG!

Kevin- So much for that best team in the ACC.  UNC's defense is better than Gah Tech's, and Yates and his young receivers are starting to come along. A close win for UNC, despite the coaching disadvantages.WRONG!

Jay- Coin toss says – GT

Vip- Is UNC-CH a contender or a pretender?  IS GT toast after getting toasted by the Canes?  Enquiring minds want to know.  GT wins 28-24.

Ivan- butch is butch. ergo, tbilisi garage united.

Paul- Carolina struggles on the road and GT gets Dwyer back and will be looking to prove the game against da U was not their finest performance. Jackets.

Curmudgeon- Even though the game is in Hotlanta, I guessing someone has figured out GT.  Baby Blue UWRONG!

John- Jackets right the ship.  For now 

Jim- This seems the sort of game where Butch makes one of his patented coaching blunders. GT wins.

Pittsburgh- NC State

Tom- What do we know about these teams?  Pitt's beat 3 nobodies 3.  State has played 1 somebody, lost then beat 2 straight nobodies.  What the hell.  State

Kevin- Nice win vs. Garner High, Pack.  We saw how NCSU plays at home vs. a good team in week 1.  Some key Pack injuries this week are going to show in the final outcome here.  Pitt wins.WRONG!

Jay- Coin toss says NC State

Vip- This ain't another 1-A layup, Tom.  I've got a feeling about the Pack.  NCSU wins 21-20.

Ivan- f-bomb alley indigents meet their match and then some but ... foul stenches of arm-pittz win.WRONG!

Paul- Until NCSU proves it can do something against real schools, I remain unimpressed. PittWRONG!

Curmudgeon- Hate to do it, but I think Pitt steals one on the road.  PittsburghWRONG!

John- Pitt is just too much for the packWRONG!

Jim- I owe JDan a State pick. Pack wins.

Rutgers- Maryland

Tom- This ought to be a thriller.  Awful and awfuller.  TerpsWRONG!

Kevin- Winnable games seem to be in short supply in the Fridge this year.  Anything the hoos can do, the Terps can do better. RU wins another for the L'il E.

Jay- I wonder who the head coach will be at Maryland next year? Dorks

Vip- The Fridge's diet plan includes losing pounds and games, apparently.  RUTSgers wins 41-31.

Ivan- ah, the nail-biter of the not-on-tv-wtf-iz-diz. pitiful, sally jesse raphael (did i get that right?) gets better ratings. kniggets

Paul- There is evidently nothing to fear in these turtles. Dorks.

Curmudgeon- Have the Terps no shame?  Losing two straight to MTSU.  Rutgers isn't good, but are better than MD.  Rutgers

John- Whattaya gonn do?  Rutsgers wins when MD just doesn't want it enough.  Have another sandwich, Friedg.... 

Jim- Does the Li'l E still want Maryland? Terps win.WRONG!

South Florida- Florida State

Tom- All it took was some Mormons to pound for Florida $tate to get their game back.  NolesWRONG!

Kevin- Beware of underdog teams within the state, Bobby.  South Florida did not schedule for success this week as FSU wins one for the ACC.WRONG!

Jay- NolesWRONG!

Vip- Will the real Noles please stand up?  I'm thinking a letdown is in order this week.  Still, F$U wins 34-30.WRONG!

Ivan- the battle for sunshine took place in week 1.  this is just for fun. after massacring de morons, taking out the cows should be like a target
practice. geronimo!WRONG!

Paul- This was shaping up to be a huge game, then USF lost their QB. Noles.WRONG!

Curmudgeon- F$U may have some hangover after the Mormon beat down, but they will handle the Bulls.  Florida StateWRONG!

John- Cupcake diet leaves the Bulls unprepared for a real team.  FSU wins big.WRONG!

Jim- Adios, Groethe. Noles win.WRONG!

Wake Forest- Boston College

Tom- Since neither team has played anybody but Wake got beat at home by Baylor.....  BC

Kevin- Wake traveling to Fredo has resulted in losing shootouts in years past.  Fredo has lost most of its ammo this year.  Wake finally wins in Chestnut Hill.WRONG!

Jay- Coin toss says WakeWRONG!

Vip- BC ain't all that.  Neither is Wake.  BC wins at home, 21-17.

Ivan- that's one way to settle a theology debate. archdiocese of boston would have never expected a baptist inquisition. lol! chestnuts roasting on an

Paul- Yawn...wake me when this one is over. Deacs.WRONG!

Curmudgeon- I'm hoping the Baptist beat the Catholics this week.  Wake ForestWRONG!

John- Toss-up game, who wants it?  I'll say BC rallies at home, but no conviction here.

Jim- How did Gameday pass on this one? Deacs win.WRONG!

TCU - Clemson

Tom- What is it with TCU popping up on ACC schedules?  Playing Clemson in Death Valley might prove just a tad more difficult than playing the hoos.  TigersWRONG!

Kevin- Probably the most-watched ACC OOC game this weekend.  Win this, and any losses to the L'il E will just be a footnote.  Daba does it.WRONG!

Jay- Coin toss says ClemsonWRONG!

Vip- Why do I fall into the "Clemson trap" every year.  Just when they get going good...  Oh well.  Once more into the breach!  CU wins 20-10.WRONG!

Ivan- horny frogs get their juicy legs pulled. yaba-DABO-do.WRONG!

Paul- Clemson knows how to handle the horney toads.WRONG!

Curmudgeon- Believe Clemson will do what the Hooskies couldn't, beat the Christians.  ClemsonWRONG!

John- Clem gits 'er done.  "We thought you was a horney toad!"WRONG!

Jim- Clem ain't the Hoos, Frogs. Tigers win.WRONG!

California- Oregon

Tom- Since this isn't a boxing match, CalWRONG!

Kevin- History shows I'm usually wrong in games involving the Ducks.  Oh well, going Cali.WRONG!

Jay- A rare home loss for the DucksWRONG!

Vip- Cal angles for a big showdown with USC, but I smell upset here.  Ducks win 41-34.

Ivan- ducts of o-region may think upset... yeah, right... cali cartel.WRONG!

Paul- Is Cal now the "best" team in the P-10? Upset alert. Ducks win.

Curmudgeon- Cal is supposed to be hot stuff in the Pac10 this year.  However, I'm going with Outzen stadium.  Oregon

John- Cal proves itself the tougher team, and survivesWRONG!

Jim- Does a Bear stink up Autzen? Cal wins.WRONG!

Texas Tech - Houston

Tom- Did they get lucky against Okie State or what?  Cougars

Kevin- Classic letdown game for Houston after two weeks of nice press clippings.  Houston, you have a problem. TTRRWRONG!

Jay- Geez Jim, this game? Coin toss says Houston (My coin likes Home teams)

Vip- Is Houston still pissed about the SWC breakup?  Here's their chance for revenge.  UH wins 33-30.

Ivan- alamo invitational.  let's go with commie cavalry.WRONG!

Paul- Texas Tech rebounds, but it is close.WRONG!

Curmudgeon- Would be nice if Houston whipped the Big12, but I don't think so this week.  Texas TechWRONG!

John- "Houston, we have a problem."  Red Raiders prevail.WRONG!

Jim- Let's end this CUSA in the BCS nonsense. Raiders win.WRONG!

Buffalo - Temple

Tom- Temple lost at home to Villanova.  BullsWRONG!

Kevin- Only one of these programs is still hapless, so we'll go with the one that still has some shine left. That would be Buffalo.WRONG!

Jay- Geez Jim, this game too? Coin toss says Temple.

Vip- Ah, the "Alderson Special."    Buffs win 42-20.WRONG!

Ivan- aaahhh, the pathetic bowel of the weak. tatonkas.WRONG!

Paul- Um...who really cares? I'll go with the Fightin' Cosby's

Curmudgeon- This game isn't high on my list of must see TV football, but some has to win.  BuffaloWRONG!

John- Bulls over Owls.WRONG!

Jim- I suppose there are worse games. Bulls win.WRONG!

Name That RUTS

Tom- Bo knows RUTS.  Nebraska by 32

Kevin-  Wonder if Bustle's offense will put up more than 16 on the road for this one?  Team represented by the best fans to ever visit Lane Stadium to win by 17.  A pleasure hosting those Huskers last week.

Jay- Teams that played VT the week before tend to be a bit banged up. Huskers by 21.

Vip- LA- Lafayette- Nebraska:   After abusing Virginia Tech's current Offensive Coordinator last week, the Blackshirts will find even more success against our former OC this weekend.  Huskers win 40-3.

Ivan- oh, you're not wearing a bustle...  zea mays by 52.WIN!

Paul- Sorry, Ricky. Nollege College by 27

Curmudgeon- Huskers by 42

John- Big Red is apt to be a bit worked up over offensive production this week - could get ugly - - +51

Jim- The Wrath of the Corn gets taken out on Bustle. Huskers by 50.
