Week 5

 Virginia Tech- Duke

Tom-This is a classic trap game.  Here’s hoping the Hokies don’t give Duke that second ACC win in as many years.  Tech

Kevin- Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.  Hokies smile and grin at the change all around.

Jay- Hokies win in Lane Stadium south

Vip- This has all the trappings up a major let-down game.  Of course, with Duke, you grade on a curve.  Wally Wade becomes Lane-South as the Hokies win 28-17.

Ivan- it will not be close.  tech.

Paul- The hard part of the season behind them, the Hokies head down to "Lane Stadium - Durham" where they handle the Dookies in much easier fashion than last year.

Curmudgeon- Having been throughly chastized, I'll not make that mistake again.  VIRGINIA TECH

John- That would be the good guys (in maroon - most of the stadium)

Jim- This game is trouble. Tech wins.

Virginia- North Carolina

Tom- Carolina looks bad but the hoos look worse.  Tarheels WRONG!

Kevin- You've got to get yourself together, you've got stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it.
Don't say that later will be better, now you're stuck in a moment and you can't get out of it.  Heels continue Al's moment.WRONG!

Jay- UNCWRONG!

Vip- The mind tingles at the possibile strategies the great NFL Legend can come up with having had two weeks to prepare.   You know you're in trouble when the coaching
edge goes to Butch Davis.  Heels win, 34-20.WRONG!

Ivan- hoos. BONUS!

Paul- Carolina always seems to struggle with the hoos. This game will be closer than the Heeliban would like, but they will prevail.WRONG!

Curmudgeon- If this was at the Library, I think I'd pick the Hoos, since Butch is Butch. North CarolinaWRONG!

John- Baby blue runs rampant over hapless hoosWRONG!

Jim- You gonna run a Wing T this week, algroh? Heels win.WRONG!

NC State-Wake Forest 

Tom- The Pack aren’t back either.  Deacs

Kevin- Don't believe what you hear, don't believe what you see. If you just close your eyes, you can feel the enemy.  Wilson's and team go acrobatic for the State win.WRONG!

Jay- State is greatWRONG!

Vip- Is Russell Wilson ready to take the next step from "prospect "to "star."  I think maybe so.  NCSU wins 24-14.WRONG!

Ivan- lobos.WRONG!

Paul- NC State has a stout defense, built largely on the pummeling of two I-AA schools. Wake is coming off of a hard-luck near come-from-behind win against fredo and has reportedly gotten back to the basics this week. I think the Deacs pull it out on the flats.

Curmudgeon- TOB is going to get this one.  WF has Fredo hangover & the Wolfies feel good after Pitt.  NC StateWRONG!

John- WtFU should win at home, unless they do not - NCSWRONG!

Jim- One team pulled one out last Saturday, one didn't. Winners win. State.WRONG!

Clemson-Maryland

Tom- This will probably be the game Friedgen figures out how to win.  TigersWRONG!

Kevin- 6:00 in the morning, you're the last to hear the warning, you've been trying to throw your arms around the world.
You've been falling off the sidewalk, your lips move but you cant talk, trying to throw your arms around the world. Clemson sobers up first.WRONG!

Jay- Will Maryland win again? Not this week.WRONG!

Vip- Theres not much nice to say about UM these days.  Clem wins 33-20.WRONG!

Ivan- tiggers.WRONG!

Paul- Maryland is bad. Not sure how much better Clemson is, but they are good enough to beat the terps.WRONG!

Curmudgeon- Clemson doesn't strike fear, but the Turtles strike even less.  The only pause is it's at Maryland.  ClemsonWRONG!

John- Clem finally gets one rightWRONG!

Jim- Once upon a time, this was a pretty good ACC game. Clem wins.WRONG!

Florida State-Boston College

Tom- F$U plays better away from home. - NolesWRONG!

Kevin- Is it getting better? Or do you feel the same? Will it make it easier on you? Now you got someone to blame.  It leaves you, Bobby, if you don't care for it.  FSU wins One.WRONG!

Jay- State bounces back a bitWRONG!

Vip- Damned if I can figure out any of these teams.  The Noles can't be so bad two weeks in row, can they?  F$U wins 38-30.WRONG!

Ivan- geronimo!WRONG!

Paul- Depends on which F$U team shows up. The Noles SHOULD win, but if they suck like they did last week all bets are off. NolesWRONG!

Curmudgeon- And Game Day is reduced to going to Fredo.  Times really are bad.  Florida StateWRONG!

John- FSU is too much for the EaglesWRONG!

Jim- Gameday for this? FSU wins. WRONG!

Oklahoma-Miami

Tom- The Canes should be ready for this one but Stoops will have a healthy Bradford.  SoonersWRONG!

Kevin- Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner but he knew it wouldn't last. Jojo left his home in Tucson, Arizona for some California grass....  Miami gets back.

Jay- never take the team that just got beat up by Tech. SoonersWRONG!

Vip- "Back" ain't what it used to be.  No Brian Bosworth vs. Michael Irvin here.  OU wins 28-20.WRONG!

Ivan- they expect no rain. miami.

Paul- Somehow the canes manage to dry out and recover from their Premature Backulation and upend the Sooners at home.

Curmudgeon- Smart money would say Oklahoma.  I demonstrated I wasn't smart last week.  Miami

John- I think Miami has something to prove here - Canes

Jim- A bounce back for the Canes? I don't think so. Okie wins.WRONG!

Georgia Tech-Mississippi State

Tom- State will be ready to pound somebody but it ain’t GT.  Jackets

Kevin- The more you see, the less you know. The less you find out as you go. I knew much more then than I do now.  Georgia Tech from the city of blinding lights confuses MSU.

Jay- tough call so I’ll go with the home teamWRONG!

Vip- For some reason, I like the Jackets on the road.  GT wins 24-20.

Ivan- i know nothing about missi-pissi whatever. tbilisi engineers.

Paul- Jackets go on the road and score a win for the ACC

Curmudgeon- On the theory PJ's offense presents problems to DCs who haven't seen it, I pick   Georgia Tech

John- That other tech.

Jim- If you are going to schedule an SEC team, make it a bad one. GT wins.

LSU-Georgia

Tom- Georgia hasn’t proved anything yet.  Tigers

Kevin- Is this the time? The time to win or lose? Is this the time? The time to choose?  Going down to the Wire, I'll say Georgia.WRONG!

Jay- DawgsWRONG!

Vip- LSU becomes the latest to fall to the "Top-Five Curse."  UGa wins 34-27.WRONG!

Ivan- chihuahuas.WRONG!

Paul- Georgia eliminates the Tigers from the MNC race.WRONG!

Curmudgeon- I've read that Georgia has a much talent as anyone in the SEC on Defense.  I haven't seen it yet.  LSU

John- Lousy state is too much for the gah-gah boys

Jim- And the SEC bloodletting begins. Dawgs win.WRONG!

Auburn-Tennessee

Tom- The Kiffen era officially starts.  VolsWRONG!

Kevin- Newspapers say, it says it's true. I will begin again, I will begin again. Oh and maybe the time is right, oh, maybe tonight.  Nothing changes for Tennessee winning.WRONG!

Jay- Rocky TopWRONG!

Vip- What if they held a football game and nobody scored.  UT wins 2-0.WRONG!

Ivan- volksturmWRONG!

Paul- WAR EAGLE!!

Curmudgeon- I don't like Lane Kiffin, in particular,  and don't like Tennessee, in general.  Auburn

John- Survey says: TenneseeWRONG!

Jim- Who knows? Vols win. WRONG!

Air Force-Navy

Tom- Why do games like this wind up on the schedule?  Air ForceWRONG!

Kevin- I don't know, I don't know which side I'm on. I don't know my right from left, or my right from wrong.  Navy wins this War.

Jay- I’ll take the guys with the aircraft carriers.

Vip- The Falcons get the early lead for the Commander-in-Chief's trophy.  Given the current holder of that title, who the hell wants it?  AFA wins 22-20.WRONG!

Ivan- wright brothers.WRONG!

Paul- Goats

Curmudgeon- Must go with my other alma mater.  NAVY

John- Swabbies mop up

Jim- I know too many Navy people who read this. Middies win.

Name That RUTS

Tom- I wonder if Saben is approaching this with as much caution as Frank is Duke?  Bama by 46

Kevin-  Yes, there's a certain Irish band performing in the Wolfpack's stadium Saturday after the Tech-Duke game.  Sweet Home by 15.WIN!

Jay- Bama by 31

Vip- Kentucky is not the most RUTSworthy opponent.  Anyone that can knock Tebow silly has something going for them.  Saban's charges win 31-17.

Ivan- that's no ruts, jim.  terrible pair.  bummer by 14.

Paul- Alabama by 31

Curmudgeon- Alabama by 5 TD's.  35 points.

John- ALA +34

Jim- Not a lot of certifiable RUTS games this week. Bama by 31.
